The BIG 50/50 Raffle Rules

Raffle Details at a Glance

  1. The BIG 50/50 Raffle (the “Raffle”) is available from March 1, 2021 to April 15, 2021, 6:00 PM PST, inclusive (the “Raffle Period”). The draw will be performed on April 16, 2021 at 12:00 PM PST (the “Draw Date”) at the Variety – The Children’s Charity (the “Licensee”) office located at 4300 Still Creek Drive, Burnaby, BC.
  2. Tickets may be purchased online and are available only to those who are in British Columbia at the time of purchase.
  3. Purchasers must be nineteen (19) years of age or older at the time of purchase. Government identification will be required for proof of age should a participant be declared an eligible winner.
  4. This raffle is being operated under BC Gaming Event License 127972. The Raffle consists of a total of the following ticket packages (the “Ticket Packages”):
    1. Package A: 4 tickets for $20 – 30,000 available for a total of 120,000 tickets
    2. Package B: 15 tickets for $50 – 18,000 available for a total of 270,000 tickets
    3. Package C: 75 tickets for $100 – 5,000 available for a total of 375,000 tickets
  5. The amount of tickets sold will define total sales (the “Total Sales”). If all tickets are sold, the Total Sales will be $2,000,000, Actual jackpot amount and odds of winning depend upon the number of tickets sold. Fifty (50) percent of Total Sales will go to the declared winner (the “Jackpot Prize”).

How to Participate

  1. To be eligible, a participant (“Participant”) must meet the following conditions:
    1. Nineteen (19) years of age or older at the time of purchase
    2. Located in British Columbia at the time of purchase
    3. Agree to the rules and privacy terms of the Raffle
    4. Not an employee, director or board member, nor reside with an employee, director or board member, of Splashdot, Variety - the Children’s Charity, Mel Jr and Marty Zajac Foundation, Cerebral Palsy Association of BC, Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation, Point Blank Productions
  2. To participate in the Raffle during the Raffle Period, a participant (“Participant”) must:
    1. Access the Raffle website at www.thebig5050.com
    2. Choose the number and type of desired Ticket Packages
    3. Enter the required personal information fields so that Participant may be contacted should they win
    4. Agree to the rules and privacy terms of the Raffle
    5. Complete the transaction by paying for the chosen Ticket Packages using a valid method of payment. The purchase of a ticket is final and absolutely NO REFUNDS WILL BE OFFERED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
    6. Completed ticket orders (the “Ticket Order”) will appear both on the website once the transaction is confirmed, and will be emailed to the Participant at the email address used during the purchase process

Raffle Draw

  1. A random draw will take place on April 16th, 2021 at the Variety BC office located at 4300 Still Creek Drive, Burnaby, BC from all eligible tickets purchased. One ticket draw number and associated drawn participant (“Drawn Participant”) will be chosen along with five (5) different alternate tickets and associated alternate drawn participants (“Alternate Drawn Participant”).
  2. The Drawn Participant will be contacted using the information that they provided within the Raffle website to ensure that they meet all eligibility requirements of the Raffle.
  3. If the Drawn Participant cannot be reached or cannot prove that they meet eligibility within five (5) days following the Draw, they will be disqualified, and the next Alternate Drawn Participant will be deemed the Drawn Participant. This process will continue until a Drawn Participant can be confirmed as the eligible winner (“Eligible Winner”)
  4. If a Drawn Participant ticket bears a minor's name, the prize will be lawfully delivered on behalf of the minor to the minor's parent, legal guardian or trustee.
  5. The Eligible Winner will receive fifty percent (50%) of the Total Sales from the Raffle
  6. The odds of being selected as a Drawn Participant are dependent on the number of eligible ticket tickets sold.

Prize

  1. The Jackpot Prize of this Raffle is 50% of the Total Sales at the end of the Raffle Period.

Other Conditions

  1. By participating in this Raffle, a Participant agrees to release the Licensee, its agents, including Splashdot and its promotional agencies, (collectively the “Releasees”), from any claims or demands in respect of the Raffle and any Prize they may receive. A Participant also agrees to indemnify and save the Releasees harmless from and against any and all actions, claims or demands (including costs incurred by the Releasees defending such actions, claims or demands) brought against the Releasees by the Participant with respect to the Raffle or any Jackpot Prize they may receive.
  2. Licensee reserves the right to disqualify Participants that do not comply with these rules. A disqualified Participant is not eligible to win the Prize.
  3. By participating in this Raffle, Participants agree that Licensee may publish and/or broadcast, in any medium without remuneration, consideration or compensation the name, location and photo of Eligible Winners.
  4. Releasees are not responsible for any transaction or transmission of the data that is incomplete. A transaction is only completed when the Participant receives confirmation thereof on the Raffle website and by email to the email address with which they made their purchase.
  5. Releasees are not liable for any loss or damage incurred by Participants related to or resulting from participating in this Raffle or downloading any material related thereto.
  6. All references to dollar amounts are in Canadian funds. All monetary prizes will be awarded in Canadian funds.
  7. All submitted entries are the property of the Licensee and will be retained as prescribed by the Gaming Enforcement Branch of BC.
  8. Decisions of Licensee are final.
  9. Your personal information is collected in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and will be used, accessed, disclosed and stored by Licensee and its service providers inside Canada.

Tickets only available to purchase within British Columbia; orders will not be accepted from outside the province. Maximum of ticket packs totalling tickets will be sold. The odds of winning are based on the total number of tickets issued by the time of the draw.
